The MinMax scarf is worked flat, increasing on each side until the desired width is reached, then decreasing on each side to the tip. The neat I-cord edge is worked at the same time, so finishing is minimal. If you are worried that the edge will be too tight, you can make a yarn over after the first stitch and before the last stitch at the beginning and end of the right row and drop these without knitting on the next wrong row. The pattern has two versions, fingering and worsted / bulky yarn. If you want to make sure you have enough yarn, weigh the yarn before starting and after increasing and reserve the same amount of yarn for decreasing as you used for increasing.
