Instructions for Jenna K's Mate sweater in Finnish and in print.

"When I pressed my face against the misty green skein of yarn and inhaled the scent of sheep and the sun, I thought of the strong-tasting mate drink consumed from the skin of the gourd. The drink made by brewing the leaves and branches of the mate tree has invigorating effects and is especially enjoyed in Uruguay, South Africa, where Urya Wool is native. Mate drink has been used especially by the Guarani, the most prominent indigenous people of South America, and the name of the drink comes from the Quechua word mati, a drinking vessel."

Mate is a sweater knitted from top to bottom, with an embroidery pattern in the hem. The collar of the sweater is knitted in double rib, and the cuffs are knitted with long rib, which, like the collar, is turned twice. Shortened layers are knitted at the back of the hem of the shirt so that the hem is longer at the back than at the front.
