Instructions for Jenna K's Sleipnir sweater in Finnish and in print.
Horses have many different meanings in folklore and world mythology; they are symbols of power, strength, courage and loyalty. In Norse mythology, Odin has an eight-legged horse called Slepnir, who lives in Asgard and helps warriors find their way to Valhalla after they die.
The inspiration for this design comes from a Viking Age runestone found in Gotland, Sweden. Tjängviden stone is painted in terracotta and white; it depicts Odin with his horse Sleipnir, Valkyrias and a longboat.
The sweater is knitted seamlessly in the round from top to bottom and the body is narrowed at the waist.
