When you knit Knitting for Olive's Heavy merino , you'll notice that it's a high-quality 100% merino wool with a beautiful, natural texture. Although the yarn is soft, it's not quite as fine as the more refined merino yarn from the same manufacturer. Heavy merino offers an attractive soft color range and is particularly suitable for patterned knits. The yarn's twist is also such that it stands out well in cable knits and various surface knits. For extra warmth and softness, combine the yarn with mohair, for example K nitting for Olive's Soft Silk Mohair .

This yarn is also an excellent choice for children's knitwear, as it is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which guarantees its safety and quality. The wool, which comes from Patagonian sheep, is ethically produced without the mulesing method. You can trace the wool directly from the original farm, which gives transparency about where it comes from. This way you know exactly which farm, farmers and sheep the wool has traveled through all the way to you.

Merino wool has a wide range of good properties. Wool is temperature regulating. In other words, wool retains body heat in cold weather and provides warmth when the skin needs to be kept cool in hot weather. At the same time, wool, like silk, can transport moisture away from the skin and wool can absorb 30% of its weight without feeling wet.

Wool is also dirt-repellent and requires little care. The yarn is made in Italy. The spinning mill follows ethical and environmentally friendly procedures to create the yarn without harmful substances.
