Tarmo is a particularly good choice for wool socks: The manufacturer recommends knitting a dense knit surface and a reinforced heel to ensure the longest possible lifespan of your socks. One skein is enough for size 39 short-sleeved socks, but it is worth reserving two for larger sizes or longer sleeves.
